Middletown, DE – The Megan Aitken Team, a division of Keller Williams Realty, hosted heir first ever 5K on July 23rd to help assist Our Daily Bread in their mission to feed low-income families and individuals a nutritious meal in a safe environment in the Middletown, Odessa and Townsend communities.

“We have volunteered as a team before at Our Daily Bread, but we wanted to do more,” Megan Aitken, team lead agent and CEO, said. “We are more than real estate agents. This is our community. We had an opportunity to help our neighbors and we were very excited to do so with our first 5K!”

The 5K run/walk was held Saturday, July 23rd. A fast, flat course through a residential neighborhood in Middletown. “Being our first race, Races2Run was very impressed with the turnout, sponsor support and funds raised.” said Beth Ann Oliphant. “We were able to raise $4,000 for Our Daily Bread!!! This entire event has far exceeded our expectations! The runners loved the location!”

Volunteer Brewing Company was our host location. They were amazing and beyond supportive!

We had 114 registered runners in the heat wave and were so excited to present the check to Our Daily Bread at their last board meeting.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to Our Daily Bread. Funds raised will help purchase an outdoor community refrigerator to aide those in need over the weekends. It will also contribute to their efforts of feeding more than 100 neighbors every day.
